A while back I bought a leather vest for a gift
I tried to return it tonight at Beartooth Harley Davidson only to be met with a surprise that I couldn't get a refund only store credit.
I WAS SHOCKED!!!
How could a store refuse a refund when there was nothing wrong with the product and the tags were all in place.!!!
I bought this item with an American express card and they still refused me a refund..
Only store credit.
So now I am stuck with a store credit to a place that has the worst customer service EVER!!
I never want to even go back there!!
I doubt that I will be able to use up $135. credit in that awful store!
I am so mad I fired off an email in complaint. Not that they will care because apparently customer service is not their strong point. I have heard to many complaints about them it's a wonder that they are still in business.
They can say whatever they want in defense of their lousy customer return policy, But the FACT remains that they suck.!!

Dont buy anything from them.

July 16th, Beartooth poker run

The Beartooth Poke run took us to Bearcreek, Belfry, Edelwiess, then over Sunlight Basin into Cooke City and over Beartooth pass back into Red Lodge. Again we had non winning cards but the ride was great!

The first day took us to the Bud Run.. After buying our poker cards it was off to Belfry, Joliet, Columbus, Absarokee, Roscoe and back to Red Lodge. Our cards didn't win anything but the ride was beautiful as always.

We didn't quiet make it to the Harley shop before it opened up with hail and rain


We got a little wet

We waited until the rain stopped and headed like a shot to Red Lodge, Only making it to Boyd before another hail storm stopped us in our tracks.

and gave us a beautiful rainbow

The sun was deceptive though, we thought we were safe and headed south again only to stop along side the road due to more hail. We had to endure hail coming down on us. And then started out again only to be stopped once again by hail and rain, this time we found some cover.


It took us about 2+ hours to go from Billings to Red Lodge due to the hail.

The One time that we dont bring a full face helmet and rain gear we get dumped on.
Go figure.

After getting over the snow on Beartooth pass we continued on our way to Cooke City, Mt. and then on to Yellowstone National Park.

We suspect there was a Bear but we did not see it. It's easy to get through these "jams" on a Motorcycle.

After going through Yellowstone National park we got to Mammoth Hot springs. One thing that I noticed was that the Springs are not as active or bright as they used to be. I can remember a little over a decade ago when they first started to say how the springs were dying and that is true.

Once we got to Bozeman we rested for the night and took off on the Freedom Festival out of Belgrade MT. sponsored by Yellowstone Harley Davidson.
The ride took us from Belgrade to Norris, Ennis, West Yellowstone, Big sky and back to Belgrade. We hung out at the Harley shop watching trick riding and listening to the most inappropriate music for a biker rally that I have ever heard. It was painful to listen to for the couple of hours that we were there. It seemed more like a karaoke event with old pop music and disco with a few rock songs thrown in. But the wait was worth it when I won my first ever Poker run.. I even won 1st place to my surprise. I thought that I "might" have a shot for 3rd at best and we started to leave after they announced 3rd and second. After all I can count on 1 hand how many times that I have won anything. BUT to my surprise I actually won $300. I haven't gotten it yet, they are going to mail it to me. but I seriously won.. Wow!

Our Route home took us down secondary Hwy 86 Just NE of Bozemen, Hooked up with Hwy 89 taking us through Wilsall and Clyde park and came back onto I90 EB just East of Livingston.

The Trip was fun. I didn't take as many pictures mostly because I have taken them all before. Not that the ride isn't gorgeous!! It is. And well worth repeating over and over.

It is that beautiful.

Trip to Redlodge and Beartooth Pass

It doesn't happen very often but it did yesterday.
I didn't check both my camera batteries before leaving the house. And wouldn't you know one dies and the other only has about 4 shots left in it. My bad.
Not like I haven't been up there a bazillion times but yesterday was so pretty and very little haze on the mountains. So I was noticing all the things I could have taken pictures of IF I had done what I needed to do and immediately charge the batteries when I get home.
But oh well.
Didn't make it any less pretty that is for sure.

As we are checking out we notice a sea of bikes in the lot. Swapping stories with a less fortunate biker who got caught in the hail. Plus there was this little cutie just hangin out.

Day 9 Spokane to Missoula

Day 9.. Heading to Missoula today Via Interstate 90 EB

It has stormed the night before and it was still raining a little,
so we got into our rain gear and hit the road

It quickly cleared off and I began to slowing melt inside the air proof suit.

It was super nice at St. Regis where we stopped at the local Subway for lunch

But as we got to Missoula it started to look really bad and
just as we pulled into the hotel it started to Hail and rain super hard.

Ya... It was a good decision to stop here for the night..

Day 8 Renton to Spokane

Day 8 took us out of Maple valley and onto Interstate 90 Eastbound to Spokane.
The valley was foggy, chilly and damp heading out but just as D said it would, the clouds lifted and the sun was out as soon as we got over the pass.

And sunshine.. just like that

As we headed west bound the temp continued to rise and rise

until we entered the gates of hell, or just the heat of it anyway.
Near Vantage it was so hot I think my leathers were melting.

ahhh .. as we neared Spokane the temp got a little cooler and there was shade and trees again.

D dug up some dinner. These were the absolute BEST potatoes I have ever eaten
Fresh from the ground red potatoes. Damn I wish I had a garden!!

After some family time we hit the sheets, have another long drive tomorrow.

Day 6 & 7 Vancouver to Seattle and Renton

Vancouver is such an amazing city. I would go back.
We began our travels out of Canada and back to the US today.
Taking Interstate 5 southbound

I don't know why I thought it was funny that there was a Sears in downtown Vancouver.
Isn't it where America Shops?
Where is Bob Villa?
Where are the lines of Lawn mower?

We hit the border and encounter a very very very long line.
We can't even see the gate at this point

It didn't take long to get through the check point once we got up to it.

We took a day to go to the Pier in Seattle.

Looked around at the Market. It was really cool there.

I know D is thinking how much he loves shopping and wishes that
we could stay here for hours or even days and just shop.

D's son bought his girl a personalized poster with her name on it.

Looks as if the BP spill made it to Seattle.. ;)

The homeless were in lots of nooks and crannies on the pier and around. I saw
someone buy a homeless person some soup and set it beside him while he was sleeping
I though that was cool.

We took a Boat ride around the harbor. It was really fun and informative

Day 5 Kamloops to Vancouver

Capt Jack is ready to hit the road for another adventure.
We wake to another beautiful day and are ready
to head to the big city of Vancouver.
Back onto Hwy 1 and Westbound HO!!!

D's food.. Salmon and Couscous which I thought looked more
like fish eggs and kinda grossed me out just a little.
I kept wanting to wrap them up in some netting and throw them
in the water for a little fishing.
:)

My dinner was scallops and some kind of sweet tasting meat.
It was soooo good I think I had a sea food orgasm.

Vancouver was amazing. I had never been to such nice fancy places.
Out of all the limited Big Cities that I have been to...
Vancouver TOPS the list of coolest
It's a great place to visit but living there would truly drive me insane
with the amount of people.
I would always prefer to walk out onto dirt, smell the scent of pine and listen to the sounds of nature than walk out onto concrete and hear sirens and smell city.
But that doesn't make Vancouver any less amazing and remarkable.
It just means that I love nature

Tomorrow we leave Canada and go back to the U.S.
It made me sad to leave.
Canada is so beautiful and the people so friendly.
The whole country felt like a long warm hug.

Day 4 Banff to Kamloops

After a Fabulous breakfast at the Keg house,
we were on our way to Kamloops on Hwy 1
towards Lake Louise then on to Golden and Kamloops

Even though the food was about "the Outback" good
It was not worth the price we paid or the amount of
time it took to get our meal.
We waited over an hour in a not so busy restaurant.
We were ready to just walk out when our food came.

At this point in our trip it was explained to me exactly what a
Loonie and Toonie was in Canadian coin.
I so silly sometimes.

Day 3 Cranbrook to Banff

Day 3 Brings us to the Local McD's for breakfast..

Once again. Super friendly Super clean!!

Then Off we go onto Hwy 95/93 in route to Banff.

The entire ride was breathtaking.
This was the moment that I realized that I could not wear insertion
ear plugs. I went back to using my pink water plugs that I got at Target.
I need to look into custom plugs for sure.
My ear canals are way too sensitive.

Day 2 Shelby Through Glacier Park then to Cranbrook

DAY 2 brought us on our way to Glacier park after a not so stellar breakfast at a local diner.

The worst place in Shelby to eat would be the Griddle, not only did we have to wait for our waitress and the cook to come back from the garage sale next door to the restaurant,
( after we had sat down no less)
The food was so bad I wouldn't feed it to a starving dog..
One of the waitresses there was very nice but the cook and the other waitress really sucked.

We headed westbound on Highway 2 towards Cutbank Mt.
Then took Hwy 89 to St. Mary

Our Friendly ranger was having a bad day. Her receipt machine stopped
working and the line was a growin'

We had never entered Glacier park from the East before,
It was nice seeing it from a different angle.
I haven't been to Glacier since 1981-ish
Even with all the road construction it was magnificent.
Oh BTW..
There was SOOOO much road construction

One good thing about construction on Going to the sun Highway is that no one really has a problem stopping in the middle of the road because it gives you longer to enjoy the view.

we ate at a place called Franks
This place was so good!!! SO goOd.. Yummers all around..

Best Car wash customer service in the world.
I was hoping I could find the name of this car wash in Cranbrook recommended
by the super friendly desk clerk at the Days inn.
The wash closed at 9pm and the attendant let us stay and wash anyway,
plus gave us tokens and towels and stayed a little later.
WOW.. what great customer service..
( to get to the car wash go down the street shown below to the next light
and turn right then turn right again at the gas bar)..

Day 1, Billings to Shelby

We started out on Friday July 23rd.
Our route took us from Billings Mt to Shelby Mt on Highway 3, Hwy 12, Hwy 200 then onto Interstate 15 northbound from Great falls Mt.
I didn't take very many pictures this day mostly because it ended up being a cool, cloudy and rainy ride after Harlowton. The ride north is always pretty and wide open. And the Wind farm at Harlowton is really something to see even though I didn't get a shot of it. It was still green which is unusual for this time of year but we have had a lot of cool rainy weather.

Beartooth rally

I went up to the Beartooth rally in Redlodge today. I took the Jeep and the top was down and my hair was blowing in the wind, It's always a pretty drive and it was so green and hot..!! 100 degrees hot. Even got up to 90 degrees in Redlodge. It rarely does that.
Went I got to town most of the bikes were out on a poker run so I decided to go up beartooth pass and kill a little time before heading back down town for the surge of bikes that happens after 4pm.
Well...... I must have an inner ear thing going on cuz the higher I got the more nausus and dizzy I got. So there I was near the top of the beautiful Beartooth pass in a turnout waiting to throw up. I felt car sick like an amateur. I have bee up these mountains a bazillion times and never got car sick. Sooooooo.. Luckily I had some sinus stuff with me and after the dizziness subsided I made my way down the pass, Feeling like puking the whole way.
Not my best day on the road that is for sure.

no pics of the rally really.. Just a couple from DT and some from the mountain before I threw in the towel.
I ended up driving home to Billings around 4pm just when all the bikes are heading into town. It was almost one long continuous line of bikes and cars. I wanted to turn back but by this time I was pretty sunburned and still feel queezy.
I usually go on Saturday too but I have a lot to do before taking off next week on vacation to Canada and beyond.

I love love love these signs, they are so cool. But Im on a budget and I didn't even check the price.. I just took the picture and walked away.

I also checked out the Bull Pen party area. I couldn't tell if there were people there or not. It would have been nice if the promoters would have allowed separate concert tickets for those people who didn't want to spend $150 for a whole week. Maybe just had time for one of the concerts. Selling them this way just seems to cut off impulse concert goers... I dont know how successful this will be for them, They sure seemed to cut out a lot of people.

Beartooth Rally Comin up

The Beartooth Rally is July 16, 17 and 18th in Redlodge Mt. I wont be on the back of the Bike this year but I will be going up on Friday in the jeep to look over the bikes and walk around. I just like to be there I don't necessarily have to be on a bike. It's just fun and interesting. With my camera in tow I will walk the streets and take candid shots of what's going on.

Dont forget this year there is a new twist to the rally. "THE BULL PEN."
Live music and camping available.

I am still researching the trip to Canada. Still in search of a BC and Alberta map. There must be a shortage. The Banff to Kamloops to Vancouver stretch I am looking for interesting sights to see on the bike. We don't have the time to stop and go through stuff so it has to be a pretty visual trip. But from what I have picked up on the internet the whole route is a feast for the eyes.

Back from the Freedom Festival

It doesn't seem like it's already the 4th of July... It's not hot.. And it was kinda cold and rainy on our poker run yesterday. Our trip down was nice but a little chilly, you could feel the cold front coming in and I think the temp was all of 72 degrees and SOOOOOO windy. But still beautiful. Montana has that going for it for sure. You can take a bike ride any day of the week and end up in the most spectacular biking highways around. Ya,, it's good to live here.
The next day brought "rain" in Bozeman. It rained most night and into the morning. I was chilled most of the day but I am looking into a heated vest for these unpredictable Montana weather patterns. (so looking into that.) The sun came out later and warmed us up. The rest of the day was sunny and nice. We took part in the pig roast after the poker run and then took advantage of some much need cuddle time for the next 15 hours, then it was back on the bike for the ride home to Billings. It was a beautiful day for a ride. I didn't take a lot of pic's this trip. It was kinda cold and I've seen all this scenery about a bazillion times, but it was still a great ride.

Leaving Billings Via interstate 90 to the Clyde Park exit right before Livingston. turning onto highway 86 in route to Bozeman Mt.
The Poker run consisted of Leaving Belgrade Mt. heading to Chico then Livingston, Clyde Park, Wilsall and then back to Belgrade. for the pig roast and live band.

Apparently it is a Giant hot spot for vacation. umm.

Wow Tornado alley moves to Billings

As I was leaving work at Costco the tornado sirens were going off.
I noticed the funnel cloud just at the horizon.

I got into the heights about 20 min after the Tornado touched down. The traffic into the heights was endless. and with no street lights working. It was still raining like crazy

It started raining so hard I pulled into the Target parking lot. It started to hail and then the sirens went off again. I couldn't see anything through the driving rain so I just sat there and hoped for the best.
Eventually I made it to my destination and sat through most of the heavy rain. I tried to leave the heights but by then Main street had been shut down going westbound. I was directed onto hilltop from main street and saw the the line of cars must be all the way to skyview. I turned off onto a side street and headed back. My only hope was to get out of the heights by way of Huntley. I took I94 back into billings heights and parked at the Applebees and walked around shooting pictures until they shoo'd us all away.

I've switched Horses

I sold my Bike last August and time had come to decide to either get a bigger bike or a Jeep wrangler that I have wanted since before I started driving over 30 years ago.
The Jeep won. And she is Awesome. 2010 jeep wrangler sport 4x4 6 spd.

But that doesn't mean that I wont be riding bitch on the back of my boyfriends Harley.
We have trips panned and scenery to see.
I am still looking for the ultimate back of the bike camera and I hope I have finally found it in the Canon Power Shot SD1400 IS Digital ELPH It's orange and really cool. 14 mp. and a lot of fun packed into a tiny package.

Thanksgiving Day Road trip

How often is it nice enough to ride the bike to Red Lodge on Thanksgiving Day??
Almost never!!
But with temps in the 40's to 50's, the decision was made to ride to Red Lodge for our Thanksgiving feast at the Pollard Hotel.
It was Cool but it was a good ride. We stayed the night and walked around the almost vacant streets. Looking into the stores with all the holiday lights illuminating our route.

"There have been more deadly motorcycle wrecks in Yellowstone County in this past summer than over the past three years combined."
This blurb comes from our local paper a couple of months ago.
Our county seems to have a large percentage of vehicle drivers who dont seem to realize that turning in front of a motorcycle can have disastrous effects.

The car's driver, Donna Greeson, 45, of Billings, saw the motorcycle but thought she had enough time to turn left, the officer said. The cycle's front tire smashed into the front right fender area of the car, Kirchheck said.
If you look at the damage of the vehicle you can clearly see that she turned RIGHT in front of the motorcycle.

There have been so many this year, So many lives lost because people really have no clue on how close a motorcycle is at an intersection. And when you add being distracted by cell phones and texting it's even worse. I lost count of the number of times driver pulled out right in front of me to make a left turn or pulled out from a parking lot "right" in front of me. I've learned to be very cautious and slow way down when approaching any intersection. Even when you think they see you and the eye contact is there, It's no guarantee they wont turn in front of you.
People in this town are horrible drivers, Even when Im in my jeep It's not safe, I had a gal run into me at a stop sign because she was on her phone, Young kids following me with their heads down texting not paying any attention to the traffic flow. People taking stupid risks just because they are in a hurry and need to save a few seconds.
It's horrible the amount of senseless deaths that occur because someone else is in too big a hurry to wait a few seconds for the motorcycle, who has the right of way, to pass before they turn left across traffic. I highly doubt they would turn directly in front of a Log Hauler in the same situation.
If they start charging these people with vehicular homicide instead of a simple citation maybe they would get the hint and be more careful.
Lives are being lost for no good reason except for another persons selfishness to be first, or because they are in a hurry.
It's not worth it.

I sold my bike today.. So now I have money in the bank to pay off all my looming debt. I started a saving account for a new bike and will try to add every month. But we all know how that goes.
She seems like a nice gal, she was all smiles when she took it for a ride. I am just glad it's going to a good person, Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things, They could put it in a crusher if they wanted to. But I do like knowing that it will make someone happy. That means something to me.

At the MONKEY ROCK someone took our pic without us knowing then gave us a card to see online. I didn't think anything of it til I found it in my purse and looked. It was pretty good so I ordered some overpriced prints of us.
